Our Story

Joyntly co-founders, Kate and Sam have worked together since 2008, where they met while pursuing their PhDs in Organizational Science. As experts in leadership development and behavioral science, they grew disappointed in the corporate learning industry, which often lacked evidence of behavior change or results. In 2022, they founded Joyntly with the aim of setting a new industry standard for measurable change and impact, by leveraging organizational science and AI.

Meet Our Founders

Kate Frear, PhD

Co-Founder & CEO

Kate has over 15 years of experience in human capital research and leadership development. She serves as an angel investor, supporting early-stage entrepreneurs in the southeastern U.S. Previously, she was a professor of organizational behavior at several universities and holds a PhD in Organizational Science. Kate enjoys solving workplace challenges with science-based innovation, and her mission is to empower people and organizations to achieve their fullest potential.

Sam Paustian-Underdahl, PhD

Co-Founder

Sam has over 15 years of experience in organizational behavior, executive education, and HR consulting. She is a prolific, award-winning organizational scientist, and a professor of management, passionate about using science to help people work better together. Sam holds a PhD in Organizational Science and has received multiple academic honors, including serving as a U.S. Fulbright Scholar studying HR practices in Ireland.
